Training Tips Bulletin #2

Training
If you don’t tell me why, why should I care? When you were a kid, if your parent caught you about to get yourself into trouble and yelled “STOP THAT!” how may of you asked why? If they said “Because I said so!” how long did that last, probably not very long, if they took the time to explain why, because you could hurt yourself when…I’ll bet it stuck with you a lot longer.

Telling adult learners the reasons behind the rules is an effective way of getting their buy in, as well as, keeping your message in their consciousness long after training has been completed.

The Cost Of Training Is Peanuts Compared To The Cost Of An Accident!

Vacuuming
You can’t get more air into an air-mover than you can get out of the silencer. Whatever airflow can pass through the most restricted part of the system is exactly how much air you will be able to move at the end of the hose. Teach your operators to clean the entire air path, including the silencer. You’d be amazed at how much better a thoroughly cleaned truck works.

Waterblasting When selecting a waterblast tip, ask yourself “What am I trying to do?” If a pipe or tube is plugged, little significant cleaning will happen until the pipe or tube is unplugged and drained. If a pipe or tube isn’t plugged any jets shooting out the front of the tip resist the thrust of the tip. Sometimes two tips and two stages are the key to productivity.
